California Melicgrass (Melica Californica)
Melica Californica, or more commonly known as California Melicgrass, is a graminoid (a grass or grasslike plant) with green foliage and yellow flowers of the genus Melica. It has a moderate growth rate and a height of 4 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. Its active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during summer, is somewhat tolerant of shade and is routinely available commercially. Melica Californica or California Melicgrass’s floral region is North America US Lower 48, specifically in the states of California and Oregon.
